How to Prepare Your Home for
Roof Replacement Day.
A little preparation the night before makes installation day smoother for everyone. Here is exactly what we ask homeowners to do — and what you do not need to worry about.
The night before your installation.
Move vehicles out of the driveway.
Park on the street or in a neighbor's driveway. We need driveway access for material staging and the dump trailer. Vehicles under materials or debris are a problem. Do this the night before so it is done before the crew arrives.
Move anything fragile near exterior walls inside.
Tearoff vibration travels through the structure. Pictures on interior walls near the roofline can shift or fall. Fragile items on shelves near exterior walls are worth moving as a precaution. It takes ten minutes and prevents something from breaking.
Clear exterior areas you want protected.
Patio furniture, potted plants, or anything near the home's exterior that you want moved away from the fall zone. We tarp areas and take precautions but debris can travel. Clearing the perimeter removes the risk.
Tell your neighbors.
A quick heads up prevents any surprises. Crew arrival, dumpster staging, and tearoff noise starting early all go better when neighbors know what is happening. A text the night before is enough.
Plan to be out of the house if noise bothers you.
Tearoff is loud. Consistent banging for several hours. If you work from home or have young children napping this is a good day to make other arrangements. The crew will not be offended. We have heard this many times.
The morning of installation.
Keep pets inside.
Crew activity, unfamiliar equipment, and debris movement create hazards for pets outside. Keep them inside and inform the crew if a dog has access to any exterior door so everyone is aware.
Be available at the start of the day.
We confirm a few things before tearoff begins: material placement, any last questions about the scope, and dumpster or trailer positioning relative to your driveway. This takes five minutes and prevents surprises mid-day.
Silence the doorbell if you can.
Crew members occasionally need to check something or ask a question. A doorbell going off repeatedly gets old fast. Silencing it or letting the crew know they can knock directly is a small thing that makes the day better.
Plan for your end of day walkthrough.
Be available at the end of the day so we can do the final walkthrough together. This is when we confirm the installation is complete, run the final nail sweep with you present, and go over warranty documentation. It takes about fifteen minutes and ensures everything is right before we leave.
What you do not need to worry about.
We handle cleanup from start to finish. We tarp work areas, stage debris removal, and run magnetic nail sweeps multiple times across every inch of the property before we leave. You do not need to pick up anything. You do not need to organize the crew or manage the day. That is our job.
You got up on installation day and did your ten minutes of preparation. We do the rest.
